POVNET of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC)

The DAC Network on Poverty Reduction (POVNET) promotes economic growth for poverty reduction, stressing the importance of both the rate and the pattern of growth to: create more and better jobs for the poor, including in the informal economy; expand access to social and productive infrastructure, particularly in rural areas where most of the poor live; increase agricultural productivity, which has so often been the key to national development; and promote social protection programmes, which help to make growth work for the poor.

POVNET aims to influence donor policy and approaches vis-à-vis pro-poor growth and to make these more coherent by producing and disseminating consensus-based policy guidance. Development of this guidance is delegated to a POVNET sub group (e.g. a steering committee or a task team) which is constituted for a limited period of time to focus on a specific issue, such as employment.

UNDP International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth

The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG), facilitates South-South learning with the aim of expanding developing countries’ knowledge and capacities to design, implement and evaluate effective policies towards the attainment of high inclusive growth. IPC-IG is a hub for South-South dialogue on applied research and training on development policy. IPC-IG’s work aims at equipping policymakers from developing countries with the skills necessary to formulate socially inclusive policies and to learn from successful policy experiences in the South. Strengethening capacity for policy analysis and implementation in the field through South-South learning is one of the services provided by IPC-IG to the development community and UNDP Country Offices.

Overseas Development Institute Poverty and Public Policy Group

Our goal is to contribute to policy and practice for effective, sustainable poverty reduction. We provide high-quality applied research and advice to policy makers, political actors and the public. Our premise is that some of the critical unresolved development issues of our day lie at the intersections of poverty and inequality, country policy processes, political economy and the delivery and management of aid.
